ABOUT YOUR FARMERS AND THEIR FARM
About Heidi: I was born a dairy farmer's daughter in Lebanon NJ on a farm owned by my grandfather.  I worked side by side with my dad until the farm sold in 1988.  My father then continued to farm with his own beef herd.  Cows have always been my passion and a part of my everyday life for as long as I can remember.  On my 21st birthday my parents bought me my first registered Jersey calf named Lily.  The Jersey breed was always my favorite because I thought they were so beautiful with their big brown eyes.  After that I began purchasing calves when I could afford them with the notion I would grow my own herd.  Once I had worked with various dairy herds, I decided I was ready to venture out on my own.  So as a single mom, with a loan, and big dreams, I purchased a small milking Jersey herd and Sugar Maple Jerseys was established on June 22, 2013.
Where there are cows there is a demand for hay, which is how I first met Greg.  We began working together in the spring of 2014, and we have been business partners and a couple ever since.

About Greg:  I was always interested in farming ever since I used to ride my bike to the beef farm my great uncle Walt used to manage.  I worked for famers during summer breaks  and after school while growing up.  Upon graduation at DelVal college in 2007, I worked for a large animal pharmaceutical company where I learned about animal welfare and husbandry.  After a divesture, I was laid off and that is when I decided it was time to make my farming ambitions a reality.  I worked full time on a local beef farm where I was able to start my own hay business.  I can still remember the first time Heidi called me looking for good quality hay, and the rest is history.

Together:  We found that our philosphies on animal welfare and feeding people good food at an affordable price meshed well together.  We incorporated Management Intensive Grazing (MIG), where we move the herd's pasture every day.  MIG has allowed us to cut the milking herds grain consumption in half.  Future goals of ours include becoming GMO certified free followed by becoming 100% grass fed. We are also working on expanding our product line by including bottled milk and ice cream.
